Young Men saved a Boy from Drowning in River near Mostar

Three young men saved a boy from drowning on the Bunica river near Mostar yesterday.

The mother of one of the brave young men warned of the dangers due to carelessness around the pool on Bunica, where a large number of citizens come to swim during summer days, in the hope that people who can do something will react and take the situation seriously before an unwanted scenario happened.

She reminds that the crossing over the pool has no bridge, and that the concrete blocks that are removed from the sides in the winter have not been returned and that the force of the water cannot be tamed easily.

“Yesterday, after getting out of the water, my son noticed that a child, aged 12 or 13, was struggling to stay on the surface of the water and jumped out of the rapids that had formed on the side of Mali polje, just where the concrete blocks are missing and where the force of the water is strong creating rapids, and without thinking jumped into the water again to help him get out of the water. But, the child’s fear, spasm and relaxation did not allow him to pull him out by himself, because he had to protect himself by hooking one leg to a concrete block that is under water , and him to fight against the rapids, so he called a colleague from the company, a guy who is from South Africa and attends college in Mostar, and luckily they managed to save the child and themselves,” said the mother of the brave boy in the red swimsuit shorts.

She points out that yesterday her son, after successfully completing high school and holding his graduation, together with his friends went to Bunica, where a social gathering could have ended tragically.

She also warned parents to talk to their children and warn them of possible dangers, stating that most of today’s children do not know what a river and rapids are, because they mostly learned to swim at sea.

She told the representatives of the authorities that it is not enough to introduce a parking fee in Bunica, and that the conditions for that should be created first, not only with regard to parking, but also the safety of all accompanying facilities.

“Yesterday was a happy ending, let’s try to make every next one like that,” said the mother of a brave boy from Mostar, Klix.ba reports.
