Young People with Down Syndrome Need to be Socially Included

Down SyndromeWe rarely get any information about employing young people with disabilities and almost never about those who have intellectual difficulties. Young people with Down Syndrome almost never get a chance to work. That is why the Association “Life with Down Syndrome FB&H” was working intensively these last months on giving them a chance to work and acquire their first work experiences through the “Youth club” within the project “Inclusion as a way towards Independence” which was supported by the Embassy of Netherlands in B&H.

Therefore, a round table entitled “Obstacles and opportunities while employing at the open labour market” was held at the Holiday Inn in Sarajevo, within which a movie “Going to work” was also screened.

Young people with Down Syndrome should be supported in order for them to take active participation at the labour market and make an important move towards independence and social inclusion.
