car4A group of students from the University of Mostar traveled to the international competition yesterday, which will be held the Czech Republic, where they will perform with the car Ammodytes that they constructed all by themselves.

They will be competing with 40 other countries in the Czech Republic, and besides the race itself, students from Mostar will compete in the so-called “static competition”, while the project of the construction of racing car will be evaluated as well.

Racing car Ammodytes was constructed in the workshop of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Mostar, and it was made by 9 members of the FSRacing team, who are students attending the mentioned Faculty, and who were led by their assistant, Gordan Lješić.

Students started with this project on the 8th of March 2013 with the help of the Dean, Milenko Obad. During the first year, they were working on finding sponsors and broader studying of the project itself, and they started with the actual production of the first parts for the car after a whole year.

Racing car Ammodytes is reaching a speed of 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, and it reaches a maximum speed of 180 km/h with 175 hp. The car is weighting 270 kg.

Before the actual race, the car will undergo technical inspection where its security will be tested, and only if it satisfies all the requirements, it will go out on the track.

Total value of the project is approximately 80 000 BAM, while the value of the car itself is estimated on 50, 000 BAM.

Members of the FSRacing team expressed their gratitude to the Deans of the Faculty, Milenko Obad and Željko Stojkić on their support, to their faculty mentor Gordan Lješić and  to all of their sponsors without whom this project would not been realized at all.
