A Case was established against Milorad Dodik for denying the Genocide

When the SNSD leader and Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik openly denied the genocide at a press conference in Banja Luka on February 21st, the State Prosecutor’s Office was asked whether they would launch an investigation into this case.

Since the information is of interest to the public, and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) can ex officio initiate an investigation against the President of the RS, this institution commented like this:

“In the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, a case has been formed which is being processed by the acting prosecutor. At this moment, we cannot provide more information or details”.

The denial of the genocide at the press conference in Banja Luka was not the first time that Dodik denied the genocide in Srebrenica, although by the provisions of the Criminal Code, after the decision of the former high representative in BiH Valentin Inzko, denial of the crime of genocide, but also other crimes for which there are verdicts of international courts and the Court BiH, is punishable by law from three months to three years in prison.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH previously suggested that due to the lack of judicial practice in such cases, the centers for the education of judges and prosecutors in 2023 hire international experts from the European Court of Human Rights or other European Union (EU) countries to work on the education of police officers, judges and prosecutors in BiH, Klix.ba reports.
