cormackThe US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maureen Cormack, confirmed today that the US embassy will continue with the same policies towards the President of the RS and SNSD President, Milorad Dodik, with which her predecessors have not met in the past.

“The policy of the US Embassy will remain the same. We’re ready to meet with all those who are ready to work constructively on the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since I came in January, the public comments of RS President Milorad Dodik are not going according to positive agenda of reforms and opportunities provided to B&H. If that changes, I will be here, “she pointed out in a statement to reporters in Banja Luka.

She reiterated that the US is committed to the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the full respect for the RS and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as its two entities.

She emphasized that everyone must find approach to solve this problem, and that individuals shouldn’t use it to create additional problems.

“Language, as one that reminds on 1992, is not the solution, nor helpful in this situation and we must do everything in our power to look at the real problems and find a way to solve them,” said Cormack.

She stated that the US Embassy will monitor all the events related to the law on public order and peace in the RS, as well as announcements of a new law concerning the operation of non-profit organizations.

Yesterday in Banja Luka, Cormack signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the USAID program’s reform of the fiscal sector in the RS, with RS Prime Minister, Željka Cvijanović.

She emphasized that the economic problems in B&H need to be addressed, and that competent authorities and economic policy is necessary.
