What Ambassador Moore said regarding the Revision of the Lawsuit against Serbia?

mooreHead of OSCE Mission to BiH, Jonathan Moore, commented on the possibility of starting the revision of the Lawsuit of BiH against Serbia for aggression and genocide. He said to BH politicians not to start a review of the lawsuit because there are no conditions for it.

“I support the pursuit of justice, but in these conditions, when authorization of Sakib Softic is very questionable, without no new evidence and when there is a possibility for political consequences without results, our advice is to stop and concentrate all forces on the future,” said Moore.

He praised the way in which BiH, Croatia, and Serbia cooperate, noting that the meetings of government officials were intensified, but that it is still needed to do something concrete.

“Something concrete should be done, and not just talk about the possibilities especially when there are no grounds for revision,” said Moore.

“For real and successful revision BiH must have a new and concrete evidence. It is clear even before the deadline that it is too late for revision. Softic’s mandate is questionable as well since we have heard from some experts that his mandate was finished in 2007,” said Moore.

To recall, the 27th of February is the deadline for initiating the revision of BH lawsuit against Serbia and Montenegro for genocide before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, and the agent of our country in this dispute is Sakib Softic.

BiH sued Serbia in 1993 as the first country in history that has sued another country for violating the Genocide Convention. After the 14-year-long dispute, the Court rejected that Serbia is responsible for genocide, but has confirmed that genocide occurred in Srebrenica.
