Andelija: Problems of Electricity Prices in BiH should be solved

Director of Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Admir Andelija said yesterday that he was pleased to receive information that the Federation of BiH (FBiH) Government will propose that the Parliament adopt a conclusion that will enable Elektroprivreda to continue producing electricity from units 4 in Thermal Power Plant (TPP) Tuzla and 5 in TPP Kakanj.

He explained that they found themselves in this situation because in 2015 they signed an agreement on limiting greenhouse gas emissions and committed to close the existing three units and build a new unit 7 in TPP Tuzla.

Andelija stated that new circumstances have now been created due to the increased need for energy on the domestic and international markets, and they are obliged to provide sufficient quantities of electricity to all customers at affordable prices.

He pointed out that Elektroprivreda BiH in 2022 does not have surplus electricity that it had in previous years, which is why they insist on legal entities to state the amount they need.

”Any deviation from that means that Elektroprivreda must import electricity and then it is not possible to buy for 200 and then sell for 60 euros,” Andelija pointed out.

He added that the way out of this situation is to continue the work of the two units, which will ensure sufficient energy reserves.
