landslideToday, the Delegation of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Deputy Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ćavar, visited the flooded areas in the region of Posavina, Semberija and Brcko District. There they talked with international teams who work on the rehabilitation of the terrain and purification of water.

Teams from Austria, Germany and Turkey are working on the recovery of the field. Austrian teams are additionally working on providing drinking water for the population as well as teams from Sweden.

“In my opinion, the situation is currently the hardest in Bosanski Šamac. This is a city which was completely destroyed and there are tons and tons of waste in the street. People need a superhuman effort to clean all”, added Ćavar.

According to our data, which is still not final, around 40 to 50 000 people are currently out of their homes and need to be provided with food, water and medical care. In addition, the recovery of flooded areas and housing units should be also done in the following period,” explains Ćavar.

He also said that about 50 to 60 000 housing units are damaged due to the floods and a large number of landslides.
