The humanitarian organization CARE Austria provided a donation to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) consisting of 1,015,650 protective masks, worth a total of 42,387.50 euros, in order to support the efforts of the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to prevent the spread of Covid-19, and in particular to help vulnerable groups, the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs stated in the press release.

The donation was realized in cooperation with CARE International Balkans based in Sarajevo, and the recipient of the humanitarian shipment on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The distribution of the donation to health institutions – end users in the Republika Srpska will be done through the Institute of Public Health of RS, while the donation for the Brcko District will be taken over by the Department of Health and Other Services. In the Federation of BiH, the donation will be delivered to end users through crisis headquarters at the county ministries responsible for health.

Also, a significant part of the donation is intended for mental health centers throughout BiH, and will include partner associations of beneficiaries to whom CARE International Balkans provides support.

In agreement with the donor, part of this humanitarian shipment will be received by the Service for Foreigners of BiH with the aim of reducing the risk to life and health of employees during their work with clients during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs is grateful to CARE for the donation and the understanding expressed for the protection of life and health of vulnerable groups during the Covid-19 pandemic, to which this donation will significantly contribute, the statement said.
