Belgrade Mufti: This Nation is not genocidal, my Serbia does not deserve it

After the adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica, Belgrade mufti Mustafa Jusufspahic declared that “this nation is not genocidal” and that “his Serbia does not deserve it”.

“Serbia is my country, we live in it and we pray to God in mosques, churches and synagogues. There are thousands of mosques where about 600,000 Muslims live and pray here.

Muslims on the territory of Serbia, which is under the rule of the majority Orthodox population, live and work in harmony and share a common destiny for centuries, and I, as a Muslim of my Serbia, testify to that,” Jusufspahic stated on the X social network and added:

“This nation is not genocidal and my Serbia does not deserve that.”

It should be recalled that the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica does not mention Serbia, genocidal people, collective responsibility or similar words anywhere.

Jusufspahic also assessed that throughout history “certainly there were individuals who had such crazy ideas”, but that “they did not infect the people who are still fighting against such ideas anywhere in the world”.

“My Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) suffered and I experienced every pain there in my heart. Its life, as well as the life of my Serbia, was given to us by God so that we can live hand in hand in harmony with each other. Let’s be smart and not repeat past mistakes, fix them and be better people. God help us”, said the mufti.

The Mufti of Belgrade commented on the adoption of the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, which took place on Thursday in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

84 countries voted for, 19 against, while 68 countries abstained.

The Resolution on Srebrenica declares July 11th as the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica, N1 writes.
