Biden reveals when the Humanitarian Aid should enter Gaza Strip

The first packages of much-needed humanitarian aid should enter the besieged Gaza Strip within 48 hours, US President Joe Biden said today.

Biden said he secured agreements between Israel and Egypt to open the Rafah border crossing.

He added that the road to the coastal enclave had to be repaired again before deliveries could start as it was in very bad shape.

“I believe that in the next 24 to 48 hours, the first 20 trucks will cross the border,” Biden told reporters at the White House when he received European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The comments come about a week after the Rafah border crossing was virtually closed due to Israeli shelling. This crossing connects Gaza with Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. It is one of the three points that connect Gaza to the outside world. The other two connect Gaza to Israel.
