Bishop Grigorije: Joint Iftar is something that ennobles the Soul

13435962_1782094105360599_640043272_nBishop of the Zahumlje-Herzegovina and the Littoral, Grigorije, said that the joint iftar for Muslims, which was prepared by the Orthodox Church in Bijelo Polje near Mostar, is something normal and something that ennobles.

“I do not know what is happening with the people, this is completely normal. We always had this, to be neighbors and friends, respect each other, their faith and life, because how can we expect others to respect us in return. How can we not be like that when and we have good people on all sides. It ennobles us and this is the most normal thing. I am surprised by all of this, but it seems that everything that is normal is now strange,” said Bishop Grigorije.

He believes that there should be more things like this, to talk, socialize…

“We should share meals, have iftars … Anything is better than suspicion and hatred, everything is better than belaj (trouble) as people would say,” said Bishop Grigorije.

Two days ago, the Orthodox Church in Bijelo Polje near Mostar organized joint iftar for Muslims from the area, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Church of Ascension of the Lord and the glory of the temple – the Ascension Day.
