The President of St. Louis City SC, Diego Gigliani, has spoken out regarding the arrival of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team to the city.
St. Louis is known for having the largest Bosnian diaspora community outside of Europe. During the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, tens of thousands of people settled in this American city, and today it is estimated that approximately 70,000 people in St. Louis originate from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina national team will have its general rehearsal in this very city, as a friendly match against Panama is scheduled for June 6. The match will be played at 9:00 PM CET, or 2:00 PM local time.
The host of the encounter is St. Louis City SC at its stadium, Energizer Park. An invasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina fans is expected, and the club’s top official, Diego Gigliani, spoke out about the match.
“It is an incredible opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be here just a week before they start competing in the World Cup, on the world’s greatest soccer stage, and to be here in what will feel like their home with so many Bosnians in the city,” Gigliani said.
Energizer Park stadium seats 22,000 spectators and it is expected to be filled to capacity with Bosnia and Herzegovinafans.
“St. Louis has the largest community of Bosnians and Herzegovinians outside of Europe, and we know that to Bosnians, soccer means a lot. Especially to see their team shortly before competing at the World Cup for only the second time ever and that will be especially significant for that community,” added the first man of the St. Louis club.
This game will be an important test for the “Dragons” and a general rehearsal ahead of the competition at the World Cup, where Bosnia and Herzegovina faces group-stage matches against Canada, Switzerland, and Qatar, Klix.ba writes.
