By End of June Draft of Spatial Plan for Banja Luka Will be Ready

9One of the most important activities of the Department of Planning is currently the preparation of a spatial plan for Banja Luka as a strategic, developmental and long-term spatial planning document, said the Head of the Department for Physical Planning Mira Sofilj.

She said that, according to the contractual obligations and established schedule, the deadline for the draft plan is June of this year, and deadline for the adoption of the draft and recommendation of the plan, together with the strategy for assessing environmental impact is nine months from the preliminary draft of the plan, in a statement from the website of the city of Banja Luka.

Mira Sofilj explained that the document defines the main goals and principles of the development of Banja Luka, defines the basic purpose and space, systems of settlements (urban and rural), and their connections.

“The city plan will be the criteria for the expansion of urban areas, such as to areas outside of the urban areas, zones of communal infrastructure, objects of importance to social infrastructure of the local self-government (health, schools, culture, sports), measures of protection of buildings and other natural heritage sites, etc., said Sofilj.

For the purpose oft his planning activity, the Department of Planning organized a survey on the actual needs of the citizens in the area of this city. A questionnaire was submitted to all 57 communities, and the questionnaire was published on the website of the city of Banja Luka.

Speaking of the planning documents, Mira Sofilj said that the city currently has 181 regulation plans and 238 subdivision plans.
