Chairman Tegeltija: Bosnia and Herzegovina will not close its Borders at this Time

Bosnia and Herzegovina will not close its borders at this time, Chairman of Bosnian Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija stated on Thursday, Avaz news portal reports.

At the announcement by Serbia that he would close the border to our country, except for trucks, Tegetija told reporters in Banja Luka that it was not a decision of BiH.

It is important, he said, to continue the smooth flow of goods.

“I hope they understand the message that there are a large number of people using medical services on one side or the other of the border to ensure their movement,” Tegeltija said.

He said that BiH supports the reduction of the number of border crossings to Croatia, because the current situation requires a lot of engagement, primarily by health workers.

“We have previously asked the Republic of Croatia to reduce the number of border crossings at which international traffic is taking place and would be better controlled.

There was no preparedness at that moment, and now the country is introducing much more restrictive measures,” Tegeltija said. For some border crossings, he added, there will be unified quarantine settlements for persons entering BiH from countries where there is coronavirus.
