Damage in Doboj Assessed to 300 Million BAM

doboj floodsDuring their visit to Doboj today, the Chairman of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović and Minister of Defense of BiH Zekerijah Osmić met with Mayor of Doboj Obren Petrović and talked to him about situation in the city after floods in May, where water level reached up to five meters.

Representatives of Doboj municipality informed the high delegation about situation in this city and they visited the soup kitchen that was formed by Majlis of the Islamic Community Doboj, International Solidarity Fund and the City of Doboj and they also visited the Heath Center.

Izetbegović told FENA after visiting these institutions that 1.300 meals are prepared in the soup kitchen every day, which requires six to seven thousand BAM.

As far as the Health Center is concerned, where five department were destroyed, Izetbegović said that donations from Turkey and Czech have been announced to help this health institution.

He emphasized that many companies were destroyed in these floods, which need to be restored as soon as possible, so people can work.

Minister of Defense of BiH Zekerijah Osmić said the Ministry and representatives of the international community are completely happy with engagement of members of the BiH Armed Forces in flooded areas in BiH.

He emphasized that according to current assessments it will probably not be necessary to additionally engage Armed Forces before civil bodies of authority, which Osmić finds are doing a good job.

Mayor of Doboj Obren Petrović said he expects the donations to help restoration of Doboj and that institutions of Republika Srpska and the state of BiH will help even more in restoration of this city.

”May floods destroyed 720 companies, 500 small and 220 larger companies which could enable the population to work. That is why it is important that companies work”, stated Petrović.

Damage in Doboj is assessed to 300 million BAM and now they are adding damages caused by floods several days ago.
