The Mayor of Brčko, Siniša Milić, declared today a Day of Mourning following the deaths of four EUFOR personnel from the Italian Armed Forces.

They died yesterday in a helicopter crash in Brčko.

Milić stated that the victims were soldiers serving with the peacekeeping force, tasked with maintaining peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“This is a symbolic gesture to express our solidarity with the families of the victims and the entire Italian nation,” said Milić.

He emphasized that the helicopter pilots deserve special gratitude for their efforts to keep the aircraft airborne, preventing it from crashing into populated areas and thereby avoiding civilian casualties.

The Day of Mourning will be observed today by flying the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina at half-mast at all institutions within the Brčko District, and by adjusting the programming of media outlets broadcasting in Brčko.
