received_1732561970313813The Council of Ministers of BiH tasked the Ministry of Communications and Transport to immediately publish new decision on minimum technical requirements for newly produced and used vehicles, within the approval of the type of vehicles and approval of individual vehicles, and to continuously monitor the measures prescribed by this decision and regularly report to the Council of Ministers.
This means that it will not be possible to import cars older than 10 years in B&H, except few whose manufacturers started to apply Euro 4 standard in 2004.

In the year 2015, a total of 61,806 passenger vehicles was imported in B&H. Out of these, 5,510 were new vehicles and 56.296 were used motor vehicles, according to the data by ITA. More than 32,000 of imported used vehicles only meet Euro 3 norms emissions.

With the introduction of EURO 4 standard on the import of cars in BiH, the minimum technical requirements for vehicles will be aligned with the European standards in this area and reduce environmental pollution and danger to the health of citizens of BiH.

“These are the cars that are assessed as the biggest air polluters in B&H. Standard Euro 4 means that cars have increased standard,” said Mirko Sarovic, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of B&H.

The new decision will not be applied on vehicles that came are on the territory of BiH or whose order was made before the 4th of January 2016, when this decision will come into force.
