On the first day of the visit, a joint meeting was held between the Delegation of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, headed by Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadić, the Delegation of the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Serbia, headed by Chief Prosecutor Snežana Stanojković, and Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts Serge Brammertz.

The meeting discussed regional cooperation and co-operation with the IRMCT Office of the Prosecutor, with a focus on the transfer of cases between the BiH and Serbia Prosecutor’s Offices. There was also discussion on co-operation in investigations into persons with dual citizenship and those who cannot be extradited, as well as on the IRMCT assistance in these proceedings and on other issues related to regional cooperation that were initiated at the previous regional meeting of prosecutors held in Belgrade in May 2019.

On the second day of the visit, a meeting was held between the Delegation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Serge Brammertz and his associates.

The meeting discussed the possibility of continuing the assistance of the IRMCT Office of the Prosecutor in improving regional co-operation within the UNDP project involving prosecutors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.

The Delegation of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed the need to continue further cooperation with the IRMCT, not only within regional co-operation but also within the work on war crimes cases in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the need to continue the project of having a Liaison Officer of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to the IRMCT and the project of employing trainees.

They also discussed the implementation of a regional project on missing persons, which is underway in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH and institutions involved in the search for missing persons from the region.

The Chief Prosecutors expressed their readiness to continue their cooperation with a view to prosecuting war crimes cases and finding missing persons more quickly and efficiently.
