digital signalThe Director General of the Communications Regulatory Agency of BiH (CRA) – Predrag Kovac said that the entire BiH, when it comes to multiplex A, could be covered by the digital signal by the end of next year.

“The first phase has been completed and these are the three areas – Banja Luka, Sarajevo and Mostar, which are currently covered by the digital signal. In order to finish the complete digitization, which is the multiplex A – the first stage of this process, it is necessary to publish a tender and purchase equipment for all other areas and there are six of them in BiH,” said Kovac at the annual conference of the CRA.

He explained that with the strategy of digitalization of BiH, multiplex A was intended only foe public operators, adding that the CRA in the past worked on getting other televisions enter this multiplex, which was adopted.

According to him, that was necessary, because the process of digitizing in BiH is seriously lagging behind, so it was necessary to allow both commercial and all other televisions to be equal with public services.

“Other multiplexes will be in a coming period, especially the multiplex B, which was strategically intended for commercial televisions. They will wait for some better times, and appreciating the experience of colleagues in the region, we think that, at the moment with the multiplex A, we can meet the needs when it comes to digital television in BiH,” said the director of the CRA.

He added that the CRA is currently working on expert analysis that will be completed by the end of the first quarter of next year, which will include technical specifications for all equipment that BH citizens need to acquire in order to effortlessly monitor the digital signal.
