skokovi-stari-mostDiving from the Old Bridge in Mostar into the ice-cold Neretva River is an attraction for tourists even in November. However, rare are tourists who are willing to pay 100 BAM to watch these incredible breathtaking skills.

A member of the divers’ club Semir Kazazić Miro admitted that there are rarely more than two jumps in autumn and winter.

“All tourists who come to the old town of Mostar and visit the Old Bridge wish to see live diving, but not many of them are willing to pay 100 BAM, which is our standard price for diving in autumn and winter period,” said Kazazić.

Diving in autumn and winter requires special preparation and special equipment and all those who want to watch that must be aware of this fact.

“Although the temperature of Neretva amounts to around 10 degrees both in summer and winter, everyone should know that during diving the wind and icy air have a special effect on every diver,” Kazazić explained.

It happens sometimes that tourists come and their most important part of the visit is watching the jumps from the Old Bridge, but those are usually tourists from the Asian countries. It is not a problem for them to pay 100 BAM for a jump, while some others try to negotiate on lower prices or wait for another group of tourists in order to give as little money for the jump as possible.

However, Kazazić said that this job enables the divers’ club to survive during summer and winter and that is why divers work in shifts, so that they are always ready for diving when the means are provided.

Therefore, visitors on the Old Bridge can see one of the members of the divers’ club Mostari every day collecting money from tourists who want to see and capture the diving from UNESCO’s protected monument, which is known as one of the most beautiful bridges in the world.

Apart from watching the jumps, tourists also enjoy in the autumn idyll of the old town and capture the yellow leaves from centuries-old linden trees and town streets filled with many people.
