Dzaferovic: I went to honor Vukovar victims, did not ask to meet with Milanovic

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović said today that the statements of the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović are below any accepted level for a serious statesman.

“I went to Vukovar, as a member of the Presidency of BiH and as a human being, to honor the defenders of Vukovar and the civilian victims of the aggression by the Greater Serbia project. I did not come to hang out with Milanović, nor did I ask for it. On this occasion, I would like to express my respect to the citizens of Croatia, as well as to the officials and religious dignitaries for the welcome they gave me to me on that occasion,” said Džaferović.

As for the attitude towards the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Džaferović pointed out that his position was clear and that he spoke only on what was established as facts by the judgments of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunal.

“I believe that presidents and statesmen should behave like that, including Mr. Milanović himself. Given the duties we perform, we need to build trust and better relations between states, and not fall far behind the permissible level and constantly look for a cause to quarrel.

With the shameful and inadmissible comments on the Srebrenica genocide, in an attempt to minimize this crime, Milanović obviously wants to mitigate in some way the justified condemnations and contempt of the European, Bosnian and Croatian public against Dodik’s party and the HDZ BiH, after they tried to bring down the law that bans denial of genocide and war crimes,” said a member of the Presidency of BiH Šefik Džaferović.
