Employment Prospects of BiH Citizens in Germany, Austria and Slovenia

The contract on employment of BiH citizens in Germany should be signed by the end of February. It will be implemented on the day that it is signed, said the Director of the BiH Labor and Employment Agency Adnan Delić.

The text of the contract has been in its preparatory stage for some time already, and it stipulates that all BiH citizens who work in Germany have the same rights as German citizens.

‘’Germany is in need of medical workers-nurses that BiH can offer. There is a chance to employ around 450-500 people’’, said Delić to journalists at today’s conference.

Apart from Germany, negotiations with Austria are taking place. Austria’s delegation will arrive in March in order to hold a conference on the implementation of “Crveno-bijelo-crvene karte” (Red-white-red cards) Agreement, which allows foreign nationals to obtain a work and residence permit. Austrians will present 25 occupations that are in short supply and see which employees the BiH market can offer to the country.

‘’In this way, BiH citizens could work legally in Austria, and would ensure that people do not get cheated or go there without any form of assistance. Recently we received a letter from the Austrian Embassy warning us of false employment ads for BiH citizens to Austria. We wish to warn our citizens to be careful and to verify the employers and mediators for employment. If they ask you for money, then it is definitely a fraud’’, warned Delić.

The Agreement that was signed with Slovenia will enter into force on 1 March, which will be an added opportunity for our citizens to find a job. Also, there could be an opportunity for employment in Qatar and Russia.
