The regular flight Dusseldorf-Mostar was opened on Wednesday after the first airplane of the German low-cost airline ‘Eurowings’ landed at the Mostar Airport.

Director of the Mostar Airport, Marin Raspudic, stated that the long-awaited line from Dusseldorf was established right after a regular line of Croatia Airlines on the route Zagreb-Mostar.

The representative of Eurowings, Michael Schaub, thanked everyone who supported these flights, and noted that it is the route Dusseldorf – Mostar today and it will be a flight on the route Stuttgart – Mostar in a few days.

Mayor of Mostar, Ljubo Beslic, stated that he believes that this will contribute to a better economic situation in the city and the county, but it will also provide a brighter future for people in this area.

“This represents a new beginning, a whole new era of tourist development of the city of Mostar and the entire Herzegovina. I am sure that this will also have an impact on the stay of young people in our country,” said Mayor Beslic.

“The establishment of these flights is important not only for our diaspora and pilgrims to Medjugorje, but for our economy and businessmen as well,” stated Herceg.

The city of Mostar was selected for the new destination of this company with the help of votes on Facebook within the campaign ‘You wote – We fly’, which was conducted by the Eurowings.
