During the cleaning of the riverbed of the Zeljeznica river in the area of the municipality of East Ilidza, an explosive device weighing about 100 kilograms was found, which most likely originates from the past war, the Municipal Administration announced.
The municipality of East Ilidza informed the competent services about the discovery of an unexploded ordnance.
The length of the device is 170, the diameter is 40 centimeters, and the approximate weight is about 100 kilograms, the Municipal Administration announced.
“Taking into account the location where the device was found and the proximity of the settlement, it is necessary to make a detailed identification and its condition, and make a hazard assessment. It is planned to be done on Friday, June 24, at 11:00 AM,” the statement said.
If it is proven that it is possible to move the device, neutralization will be performed on the same day in compliance with safety and other procedures.
If it is determined that these are lighters for which the movement of an unexploded ordnance is not allowed, protective earthworks will be performed on the site, after which the device will be destroyed at the site of the discovery.
The municipality of East Ilidza informs the citizens that a ban on movement within a radius of 500 meters will be established, and citizens living within a radius of 1,000 meters will be informed about the activities on the destruction of this device.
The Municipality of East Ilidza, together with the Republic Administration of Civil Protection, the Police Station and the Ambulance, will supervise the implementation of this activity and provide security for the scene.
