Federal Prime Minister compared Fuel Prices, but did not provide accurate Data

At today’s session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalic spoke about fuel prices and compared prices in this BH entity with the situation in neighboring Croatia.

“In Croatia today, so this morning, the fuel is petrol 4.06 BAM, in our country the average price is 3.56. So exactly 50 pfennigs. 3.71 BAM is diesel, and 4.30 in Croatia. So almost 60. They have a quarter of the oil they extract from their sources, so much for the price limit. I would limit it to 4.30, as Plenkovic did, but then we would get really bad,” Novalic said.

Our Party MP Sabina Cudic posted this Novalic’s explanation on Facebook with the comment:

“Prime Minister Novalic just reprimanded us at the parliamentary session and explained that fuel in FBiH is, in fact, cheap. He added that he used to go to Trieste to get jeans, and that he does not want to return to those times.”

However, in order to check the accuracy of the data, Klix.ba only visited the website of the Croatian Auto-Moto Club (HAK), which updates the data of gas stations in Croatia and Europe on a daily basis. To calculate the average price of gasoline and diesel, Klix.ba took into account several stations, with the lowest and highest prices, and obtained the following data.
The average price of gasoline 95 in Croatia today (June 28) is 3.78 BAM, while one liter of diesel is on average 3.77 BAM.
With the latest interventions, the Croatian government has kept fuel prices in Croatia at a certain endurance limit. Thus, for a liter of gasoline, it is necessary to set aside 13.50 (3.49 BAM) and 13.08 for a liter of diesel (3.38) outside highways. On highways, prices are up to 20 percent higher.

Also, countries such as Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria, Moldova have approximate or lower fuel prices than BiH. It should also be taken into account what is the average monthly income in Bosnia and Herzegovina and what is the price of fuel, and what are the average salaries in the countries of the region and Europe.

It should be noted that the price of gasoline 95 in the Federation of BiH, depending on the petrol station, ranges from 3.36 to 3.56 BAM, while diesel ranges from 3.56 BAM to 3.76 BAM. These are the prices that are on the application of the Federal Ministry of Trade today. Thus, in his presentation, Prime Minister Novalic presented the highest prices that are at gas stations today, although there are also stations where prices are lower by 10 to 20 pfennigs.
