First Cases of Flu expected by the End of the Month

Hospitals To Offer H1N1 Vaccines In South KoreaCases of patients suffering from flu have not yet been recorded at the territory of the FB&H, but it is not excluded that they appear by the end of this month; it was stated from the Public Health Institute of FB&H.

Moreover, it was pointed out that at this moment the most important thing is to get vaccinated against flu, with an emphasis on chronic patients.

“Generally, the flu appears in the period from November to April. However, during last winter at this area it appeare in January, thus making it had to predict the exact period when it will occur. We urge all citizens to get vaccinated, especially people older than 65 years, chronic patients such as diabetics, people with cardiovascular diseases, wtc. The latest recommendation is to get vaccinated even when the season of flu starts,” the epidemiologist of the Public Health Institute of FB&H Dr. Mirsada Mulaomerović said.

Elaborating on the measures of protection, Dr. Mulaomerović highlights that there should be a distance of one meter in interpersonal communication.

“This is a period of all respiratory diseases and citizens should take care of those basic precautions, including distance while communication. It is necessary to sneeze and cough in handkerchiefs and dispose them afterwards. However, people still cough in their hands and then grab the handrails in public transportation. The flu virus survives on this surfaces for 24 hours and gets transferred and causes a larger number of infections,” Dr. Mulaomerović warned.
