Representatives of five political parties – the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH), Narod i Pravda, NES, the Naprijed party and the Democratic Action Movement – signed an agreement on joint participation in the 2026 general elections in Banja Luka today.

The President of the SDP BiH, Nermin Nikšić, stated that the agreement represents an “outstretched hand and a promise” by these political subjects that they will work together until the elections, but also after them, through the National Assembly of Republika Srpska and other institutions of BiH.

“We want to do everything in our power to improve the political, economic and social organization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and for the citizens to get a government that will work to increase the standard of living in the next four years,” said Nikšić.

He emphasized that the goal is a joint appearance for the National Assembly of the RS, where, as he stated, they want to be a factor that will represent the interests of citizens and advocate for solutions in accordance with European standards, while strengthening cooperation between the entities and Brčko District of BiH.

President of Narod i Pravda Elmedin Konaković assessed that consolidation of the political scene, especially in Republika Srpska, is an expected process, bearing in mind demographic trends and a smaller number of political entities that can individually achieve a significant election result.

“This is not a closure, but an invitation to all pro-Bosnian parties to join and together make strong lists for state and entity parliaments, with the aim of improving the living conditions of citizens,” said Konaković.

The leader of NES, Nermin Ogrešević, pointed out that the association of political organizations is a rational move, and that there is already a certain level of cooperation and mutual trust among the signatories.

“I believe that this will be a successful agreement and that citizens will benefit from joint political action,” said Ogrešević.

Secretary General Samir Imamović spoke on behalf of the Democratic Action Movement, who stated that this is the third agreement signed by that party, and that the association is a response to, as he said, “hyperpluralism” and a large number of political subjects with similar program objectives.

The representative of Naprijed Elvisa Đuk stated that they accepted the invitation to sign an agreement with the aim of strengthening political representation in the RS National Assembly, especially to improve the position of returnees and reduce discrimination.

The signatories of the agreement announced that in the coming period they will work on the formation of joint lists and the harmonization of program priorities for the 2026 general elections.
