According to projections, direct foreign investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina should amount to nearly 2.6 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) next year, which represents an increase of 0.2 percent in comparison with this year, confirmed the Directorate for Economic Planning of BiH.
If more favorable conditions were created, several previously prolonged projects in the field of electrical energy could be implemented, such as the thermal power plant “Ugljevik tri” worth more than one billion BAM and construction of small hydro power plants “Ulog” and “Mrsovo”.
In addition to this, projects of construction of the motorway on the section Doboj Jug-Žepče, on the basis of concession, and the section within the Corridor 5C Doboj-Vukosavlje on the basis of public-private partnership could bring 100 to 200 million EUR on annual level.
Beginning of partial privatization of companies in the field of telecommunications owned by the state is also a realistic option.
According to prognoses, direct foreign investments in 2018 should amount to around 2.9 percent of GDP, and almost three percent of GDP in 2019.
Investments in the electrical energy sector, investments in the construction of road communications and the announced privatization of one part of telecommunication companies would be the main holders of investments.
In these years, more significant investing in tourist projects “Buroj Ozone” and “Eco Zone Vlašić” might begin, if the necessary preconditions for obtaining all permits and expropriation of the land were created in the previous period.
