Four modern Stairways built in the Great Park in Sarajevo

Great Park Stairways akta.baThe works on the reconstruction of four stairways within the complex of the Great Park in Sarajevo have been completed. The project of reconstruction was completely funded by the Municipality Centar Sarajevo, in the amount of around 288.000 BAM.

The new stairways in the Great Park are constructed of reinforced concrete and, for the largest part, covered with hreša stone with decorative elements of granite blocks.

Due to the shortage and poor quality of the public lighting, the existing lighting poles have been replaced with the new ones.

The works began in late March, and reconstructed are the stairways in the length from 15 to 39 meters, that were in poor condition due to lack of maintenance and ground sinking on the treads, where eventually large cracks and damage formed that represented a potential danger for the safe movement of the pedestrians.

The Mayor of the Municipality Centar Dzevad Becirevic visited that site yesterday. He expressed satisfaction with the completed work. He is happy, he said, that the protected park got modern parts that are to be pleasant places to meet and socialize.

He announced that the rest of the park will be arranged as well, and that the reconstructed parts were a priority due to landslides. The Municipality entrusted the implementation and monitoring of the project to the Institute for the construction of the Sarajevo Canton because of this particular problem.
