The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, signed, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense of BiH, the Technical Arrangement and Annex project for the modernization of the ‘Rabić’ warehouse in Derventa, with a donation of three million euros from the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The signing was also attended by Deputy Minister of Defense of BiH for Policy and Plans, Slaven Galić. Renaud Meyer, the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the framework of which the Safe and Standardized Weapons Storage Project (WASSP) is being implemented, signed an act on the financial transfer of that money with FR Germany.
Helez thanked the representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic of Germany for their continuous assistance in financing projects that raise the level of security of the storage of assets, as well as the accommodation conditions for members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also praised UNDP for its engagement and efficient implementation of projects.
“Of all the countries of the European Union, FR Germany leads in aid programs that strengthen the defense capacities of BiH, and the Armed Forces of BiH adopt the standards of the NATO alliance. Germany recognizes who politically obstructs the processes of progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but continuously helps the modernization of our facilities in both entities,” said Helez.
German colonel Abendroth confirmed that the continuity of further assistance of SR Germany to improve living and working conditions in the facilities of the Armed Forces of BiH in all parts of BiH will not be absent, despite some political challenges. On behalf of UNDP, the resident representative Mayer emphasized that the partnership between FR Germany, MoB BiH and UNDP is an example of how such foreign aid projects can be realized in the best way.
“Works at the ‘Rabić’ warehouse in Derventa will be carried out according to the model of the WASSP Project, at the location of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Visoko. Within the framework of the first phase, it is planned to demolish non-conditional buildings, build and rehabilitate storage facilities, build facilities for the accommodation of weapons and material and technical resources, and build a gas station and supporting infrastructure, in accordance with modern security and logistics standards,” announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
