The import of cars into Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has maintained its steady course in 2025 as well. Porsche and Mercedes are competing for prestigious positions, while Chinese manufacturers are reaching drivers in our country without much fanfare, Forbes writes.

According to data from the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of BiH, from January to the end of May this year, 38.380 vehicles were imported, of which 4.260 were new and 34.120 used cars.

The ten most expensive imported cars

At the top of the list of the ten most expensive cars imported into BiH this year is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, whose value exceeds 436.000 BAM, with duties of almost 75.000 BAM. It is followed by the Mercedes-Benz G-Class AMG G63, with a price of 392.669.64 BAM and duties of 66.769.14 BAM. In the third to sixth positions, the brands Mercedes and Porsche alternate, while the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth places are occupied by Toyota Land Cruiser Type J15TM/GDJ150(MC) vehicles, with a price of 313.147.45 BAM and duties of 53.235.07 BAM.

In the period from January to the end of May 2025, 38.380 vehicles were imported into BiH, with a total value of 484.9 million BAM, and collected duties exceeded 110 million BAM. Almost 90% of these cars are used, which reflects the reality of the market – between the desire for luxury and the limits of purchasing power.

Import of Chinese brands

Nevertheless, the number of imported cars (both new and used) is increasing. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, 40.963 vehicles were imported, while in 2024 that number reached as many as 89.207. The value of imports has almost doubled in five years.

When it comes to Chinese cars, during the first four months of this year, 154 cars were imported into BiH, of which 134 were new and 20 used. Their total value is close to 4.4 million BAM, while the duties on their import amount to nearly 1.5 million BAM.

It is interesting that in 2013, the cars imported into our country were worth about 492 million BAM, while at the end of 2024, their value reached one billion and 121 million BAM.
