Helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH have been extinguishing the Fire near Bugojno since Morning

After a brief reconnaissance of the fire site, the helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been engaged in extinguishing the fire in the Garački Podovo area near Bugojno since the morning hours.

Given that it is a mined area, members of the 2nd helicopter squadron of the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are using fire buckets and taking all safety measures to put out several fires in this area, which threatened to endanger the archaeological site. Churches and property of the population in that area.

The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, supervises the extinguishing of fires in the field all the time, providing support to the members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the tour of the fire site, Minister Helez was convinced of the effectiveness of the helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in extinguishing fires, emphasizing their key role in protecting endangered areas as well as this very valuable archaeological site. His presence further motivates everyone involved in the action and shows the commitment of the Ministry of Defense in the fight against fires.

“This fire has spread and threatens to endanger the archaeological site in this area. I am appealing to local communities where there is an active fire and helicopter assistance is needed to put out the fire, to send a request to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for help in putting out the fire. Our helicopters are on standby and will be engaged and put out the fire after obtaining the consent of the BiH Presidency,” said Minister Helez.

The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are in constant readiness to engage in providing assistance to the civilian population and authorities at the request of civilian authorities and within the framework of available capacities, announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
