How many People died in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the first Half of the Year in 2018, 2019 and 2020?

Although many have the impression that more people are dying as a result of the pandemic and the overall situation, according to the data of entity statistical institutes in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), fewer deaths were registered in the first five and six months than in the same period during the previous two years, Klix.ba news portal reports.

Institute for Statistics of the Federation of BiH said that the data include people who died in the period from January 1st  to May 31 in 2018, 2019 and 2020, noting that the data for the current year are not definite because these are only the first results.

In the first five months of 2018, a total of 9.529 people died in the Federation of BiH, out of which 4.736 were men and 4.793 were women. In the same period in 2019, 9.895 people died, out of which 5.041 were men and 4.854 were women.

From the first day of January to the end of May during this year, 8.474 people died, 4.284 men and 4.190 women.

Institute for Statistics of Republika Srpska (RS) informs that in the first six months of 2018, 7.645 deaths were registered in the RS, while in the first half of 2019, 7.992 people died.

In the first six months of 2020, 7.424 deaths were registered. Institute emphasized that the data on the number of deaths represent the total number of registered cases in the RS registry books.

According to the data of the Institute for Statistics of BiH, a total of 36.305 people died in our country in 2018, while 37.184 people died during 2019.
