Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, met yesterday at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban.

Along with Prime Minister Nikšić, Deputy Prime Ministers and FBiH Ministers Toni Kraljević and Vojin Mijatović were present at the meeting, and along with Prime Minister Orban, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó. During the meeting, the focus was placed on strengthening economic cooperation. The officials emphasized that investors have a mutual interest in investments, as well as on supporting the European perspective of our country.

Prime Minister Nikšić, welcoming the Hungarian Prime Minister and his colleagues, emphasized the strong interest of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in significant investments.

“We are open to cooperation and want to make the Federation of BiH a place where we will intensify investments in infrastructure and energy transition, which includes investments in renewable energy sources. We are interested in projects through the cooperation of the Government of Hungary with the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and entity governments. We appreciate the impressive economic progress and investments achieved by Hungary in the last period,” said Prime Minister Nikšić.

Prime Minister Orban said that in the past period there was no connection between the two countries and that the goal of today’s visit is to improve mutual relations and economic cooperation.

“Our recipe for investments is to find a visible project as the initial one for other investment jobs, whether it is the banking sector, energy, telecommunications, but it’s always very visible and we want such a project in Bosnia and Herzegovina that would be significant for everyone. That is why it is important for us to hold a meeting of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation as soon as possible, to give concrete proposals for future cooperation and to move forward,” said Orban.

The interlocutors agreed that the recommendations for concrete cooperation should be based precisely on those investment areas in which Hungary has achieved expansion.

Also, interest was expressed in the fact that cooperation takes place in both directions, and that BiH companies will also have opportunities to promote their work in Hungary.
