Increase in Number of Passengers that were welcomed at Tuzla International Airport Last Year

Although the number of flights last year from Tuzla International Airport was lower than the year before, there were about eight thousand more passengers welcomed at the airport in 2019 than in 2018.  Thus, in 2019, 592,374 passengers passed through Tuzla airport, which is an increase of about 1.3 percent.

The occupancy of the plane was significantly better from April to the end of the year, resulting in a better year.

“Flights during the summer season are more frequent, while in winter there are fewer flights and we plan our activities accordingly, but in this later period we had unexpectedly more passengers on each flight, which resulted in an increase in the number of passengers,” said Selma Labendz, executive the director of traffic at the Airport.

This year’s figure is still far from the 800,000 passengers that the Airport can currently receive, after some 6.8 million BAM has been spent in its reconstruction and expansion.

Although this project is not directly linked to the increase in passenger numbers this year, they hope at the Airport that it could also contribute to an increase in passenger numbers in the future.

“The airport has improved the quality of its services by reconstruction, and now we have the appearance of a smaller international airport. This has made it easier for travelers and although we are not sure this has led to an increase, we believe it could have contributed,” Labendz added.

From Tuzla, Wizz Air flew to eleven destinations during the winter: Dortmund, Memmingen, Eindhoven, Basel Mulhouse, Malmö, Frankfurt Hahn, Gothenburg, Fridrishafen, Billund, Berlin Schonefeld and Cologne, eKapija reports.
