Ljubomir Stanisic from Sarajevo: Ronaldo will eat what I give him

ronaldoLjubomir Stanisic, one of the best chefs in the world who lives in Portugal, recently visited his native Sarajevo. The reason for the visit was filming a documentary about his life, which, according to Stanisic, will be screened at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2018.

The war in BiH back in 1992 interrupted his youth as well. As a 14-years-old boy, Ljubomir left Sarajevo with his mother and sister. He left everything he knew – his friends, home, school and went somewhere where, maybe, everything will be better.

Today, 25 years later, he lives in Lisbon with his wife Monika and their two sons – Matija and Luka, he is the author of two books, owns three restaurants, a bakery and a hotel in the capital city of Portugal, and he is a winner of numerous prestigious awards from the world of cuisine.

In order to learn to cook, he visited many countries in Europe, as well as distant Asia and Africa. He brought new experiences and adopted knowledge from each of them, and collected different recipes and methods of cooking.

Many celebrities are eating in his restaurants, from athletes to actors. Cristiano Ronaldo is his most frequent guest, as well as Monica Bellucci, Jonh Malkovich, Madonna, Robert De Niro and many others.

“I have one of the most famous restaurants in Portugal, so that is quite normal. All the clients are the same for me, and I prepare food for everyone with the same love and dedication. Ronaldo, of course, is eating a protein food, since he is an athlete and because his body requires it, due to a lot of training. Actually, they eat what I give them,” said Stanisic with a wide smile on his face.

Despite the great success that he achieved, he continues to impress everyone. As a hobby, he is taking care of his plantations of cocoa and vanilla in Africa.

“I miss this place. I never met a character like Bosnians, especially Sarajevans, in the entire world. They are people with characteristic humor. There is no religion here, and people of all religions are respected. This is my Sarajevo. Here started my youth, happiness, friends, first love… Sarajevo lives in me,” said Ljubomir.

He revealed the name of his documentary: Cook n ‘Roll, as well as locations where it was filmed.

“We went on six mountains that are surrounding Sarajevo. I want to show to the world that this is a city that is offered on a palm of the hand, there was no need to shoot at him. We visited all the places that are important to me,” revealed Stanisic for the end.
