Mechanism Chief Prosecutor, Serge Brammertz today met with the representatives of the Operative Working Group on Missing Persons in Sarajevo, as part of his official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Among the topics discussed at the meeting were the challenges in finding missing persons from the war, exchange of information between the respective institutions that form the Operative Group and the support by the Mechanism’s Office of the Prosecutor in this process.

The Operative Group was set up as a joint initiative of the Mechanism, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to share information between law enforcement agencies and all other actors that can provide information on the possible locations of mass graves or remains of missing persons.

Prosecutor Brammertz is on official visit to Sarajevo from 28 until 30 October 2019, as part of preparations for his regular biannual report to the UN Security Council.
