Municipal Court in Gorazde Imposes 53 Protective Measures Under Law on Protection from Domestic Violence

Since the beginning of this year, the Municipal Court in Goražde has received a total of 37 requests for the imposition of protective measures based on the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence of the Federation of BiH, which referred to 34 men and 5 women, against whom protective measures were proposed.

The Court imposed a total of 53 protective measures, including 11 measures of removal from an apartment, house or other residential space and a ban on returning to the apartment, house or other residential space, 17 measures of prohibition of approaching the victim of violence, 18 measures of prohibition of harassment and stalking of a person exposed to violence, 4 measures of mandatory psychosocial treatment, 3 measures of addiction treatment, this judicial institution specified.

They added that the Court’s commitment is to consistent application of the law, efficient action and further strengthening of institutional capacities with the aim of protecting victims and preventing all forms of domestic violence, and that the Court has provided financial resources for the implementation of protective measures.

They reminded that in accordance with the applicable legal regulations, the costs of the protective measure of mandatory psychosocial treatment of perpetrators of domestic violence and the protective measure of mandatory addiction treatment of perpetrators of domestic violence are to be borne by the court that imposed the measure.

“All proceedings in these cases were completed within the legally prescribed deadlines, with the aim of providing adequate and timely protection and safety to victims of violence. It is important to emphasize that the judges who are handling these cases have undergone specialist training in the field of handling domestic violence cases, in accordance with the training program of the Center for the Education of Judges and Prosecutors in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” emphasized the Municipal Court of Goražde.
