Nasser Hospital will be without Electricity for 48 Hours due to Fuel Shortage

Electricity will be cut off within 48 hours due to a fuel shortage at Nasser Hospital, located in Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Ashraf al-Kudra, spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, stated that a medical and humanitarian disaster occurred at Nasser Hospital as a result of the Israeli army’s siege and attack.

Kudra stated that 300 health workers, 450 injured and 10,000 displaced Palestinians who took refuge in the hospital faced the danger of starvation and death.

Noting that Israel had shot a female medical worker at the hospital, Kudra said: “A nurse working in the hospital’s operating room, who is constantly targeted by the Israeli occupation forces, was shot in the chest and seriously wounded.”

Stating that power outages have started at the hospital, Kudra noted that the generators will stop in less than 48 hours due to fuel shortages.

Kudra also stressed that there is a serious shortage of anesthesia, intensive care drugs and surgical materials in the hospital.

Pointing out that the Israeli forces established a siege and prevented the movement of ambulances and the transport of wounded and patients to Nasser Hospital, Kudra continued: “Nasser Hospital is exposed to serious health threats due to the accumulation of medical and non-medical waste in the hospital wards and yard, and the Israeli occupation forces prevent removal of that waste.”

He added that Israeli forces targeted and damaged the hospital’s water tanks and that the tanks have not been repaired so far, AA writes.
