New Rise in Fuel Prices in BiH to be expected?

Following the European Commission’s proposal to ban the import of oil from Russia to Europe, drivers again created traffic jams at gas stations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to announcements of a possible new rise in fuel prices, many have decided to take advantage of current fuel prices, which are still high compared to the same period last year.

Yesterday, the European Commission proposed to ban the import of Russian crude oil within six months, and the import of refined oil products by the end of the year.

The price of oil in Bosnia and Herzegovina is formed freely in accordance with world market prices. Only information on price changes is provided to the entity ministries without the possibility of feedback on their correction. For now, the restriction of the oil margin is in force in Republika Srpska, but that doesn’t mean much either.

As of this morning, the price of diesel at some gas stations is already 3.19 BAM.

Experts predict that, if an embargo is imposed, in the worst case scenario, the price of oil per liter in BiH would be 3.5 BAM more expensive.
