The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić met today at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo with the head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Brian Aggeler. The topics of the meeting were related to the current situation in the reforms implemented in our country, and cooperation in the processes of adopting regulations important for the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union.

Prime Minister Nikšić informed the ambassador about the activities and progress achieved in the adoption of laws concerning the fulfillment of priorities on the European path of our country. At the meeting, as one of the important current issues opened up after the last tragic events in Gradačac, a strong commitment to cooperation and improvement of the legislative framework that will enable a more effective fight against domestic violence was highlighted.

“We absolutely support all possible measures that will contribute to preventive action, prevention of violent behavior and protection of victims. In the direction of adopting amendments to the Criminal Code, as well as other necessary laws that regulate this area, I have already signed certain acts for the Government of the Federation. Certainly, in this context, we welcome the contribution, mediation and suggestions of the OSCE, as well as of all good practices from the democratic world,” said Nikšić.

The interlocutors also assessed that it is necessary to continue working on solutions to protect the integrity of the electoral process in our country.

“And in that field, we are ready to make an absolute contribution, as we did before. We especially want to have laws similar to those of the countries of the European Union. The European path has no alternative and the most important thing is that we continue to move in that direction, because joining the EU is the biggest guarantor of the security, stability and functionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Prime Minister Nikšić said.

Expressing the strong support of the OSCE Mission to BiH for our country’s European path, Ambassador Aggeler emphasized his readiness to provide assistance in drafting domestic legislation and solving all important issues.
