On This Island, You Get a Refund If It Rains During Your Vacation

This Mediterranean island guarantees that it won’t rain, and if it does happen by any chance, the hotel where you’re staying will refund your money for the accommodation.

One thing you can’t guarantee on vacation is the weather – unless you’re staying on an Italian island.

Elba, off the coast of Tuscany, is so confident in its sunny skies that it offers visitors a refund for their hotel stay if it rains during their vacation.

The “Elba No Rain” campaign was launched a few years ago and begins in May, with hoteliers promising guests a refund for overnight stays if it rains for more than two consecutive hours on any day.

The offer is valid only until May 31st, and then from September 15th to October 31st, and it only counts if the rain lasts longer than two hours between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Also, breakfast and dinner are not included in the refund.

Otherwise, the island’s position is such that the weather changes quickly, and strong winds blow the clouds away before they settle. Even if it starts raining, it rarely lasts long.

“In the last five years, in April and May, we had only two days with more than two hours of rain during the day,” said Claudio Della Lucia, assistant tourism manager of the island.

The island of Elba, located just off the coast of Tuscany in Italy, is one of the largest Italian islands and part of the Arcipelago Toscano National Park.

In addition to beautiful Mediterranean beaches, Elba is also known for its impressive fortresses and mineral baths.

This year, 14 facilities on the island are participating in the “Elba No Rain” campaign, from luxury hotels to campsites. You need to send an email and request the “Elba No Rain” rate and book your accommodation.

To receive a refund for your accommodation in case of rain, it must fall for two hours or more between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Elba is best known as the place of Napoleon’s exile from 1814 to 1815. Visitors can stop by the National Museum of Napoleon’s Residences in the town of Portoferraio to learn more.
