Over 110 Thousand Tourists visited BiH in December

Bosnia and Herzegovina was visited by 111,240 tourists in December last year, or by 8.1 percent more compared to the same month in 2022, and by 5.5 percent more than in November last year.

Tourists spent 213,936 overnight stays in December last year, which is five percent more compared to the same month of the previous year, and 2.9 percent more compared to November 2023, the BiH Statistics Agency announced.

In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists is 40.8 percent, and foreign tourists 59.2 percent.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in December last year increased by 3.6 percent compared to the same month in 2022, and by 12.5 percent compared to the previous month in 2023, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by six percent compared to December 2022. and lower by 2.9 percent compared to November last year.

The most overnight stays were made by tourists from Croatia 27 percent, followed by tourists from Serbia 13.8 percent, Slovenia 8.9 percent, Turkey 7 percent, Austria 4.4 percent, Germany 3.9 percent, Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates with 3 each. .7 percent, while tourists from other countries accounted for 27.6 percent of overnight stays.

Regarding the length of stay of foreign tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in December, tourists from New Zealand are in first place with 5.2 nights, followed by tourists from Brazil with 4.6 nights, from Qatar with 4.3 nights, Egypt with 3.8 nights, Greece 3.7 nights, and the United Arab Emirates and Cyprus with 3.5 nights each on average.

In December last year in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 18,527 rooms, apartments and places for camping were available to tourists, which is 0.8 percent less compared to the same month in 2022, and 40,669 available beds, which is 0.2 percent more than in the previous Decembers.

The net occupancy rate of rooms in December 2023 was 26.7 percent, and of permanent beds 18 percent, while in the same month of the previous year, the occupancy rate of rooms was 24.9 percent, and of permanent beds 17.4 percent.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays in December was in hotels and similar accommodation with a participation of 94.7 percent.
