Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, and the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH, Halil Lagumdžija, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of the FBiH and the HJPC BiH today at the headquarters of the FBiH Government in Sarajevo. This document refers to the establishment and construction of the “Palace of Justice of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, a new and purpose-built facility that will house the FBiH Prosecutor’s Office and the Supreme Court of FBiH with Special Departments, as well as the Judicial Police of FBiH.

The signed Memorandum creates the conditions for the establishment of Special Departments for the Suppression of Corruption, Organized and Intercantonal Crime at the FBiH Prosecutor’s Office and the Supreme Court of FBiH, as well as ensuring the conditions for the implementation of the Law on Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime in the FBiH.

The aforementioned includes ensuring the necessary spatial capacities, equipment and material and technical resources for the work of the FBiH Prosecutor’s Office and the Supreme Court of FBiH with Special Departments.

The FBiH Prime Minister particularly emphasized the good cooperation between the Government and the HJPC of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which led to the signing of this important document for strengthening the FBiH judiciary.

“With the construction of the “Palace of Justice of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which will permanently house judicial institutions, we confirm the Government’s firm commitment to creating the necessary conditions for the work of the FBiH judiciary. The government provides the necessary funds for the construction of this facility, as well as for the work of the Special Departments of the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office,” said Novalić.

To start the work of the Special Departments as soon as possible, KM 2,950,000 will be allocated from the

FBiH budget for the adaptation and furnishing of the premises in Valtera Perić Street in Sarajevo, where these departments will be temporarily located until the “Palace of Justice” is built. This process includes the appointment of holders of judicial functions and additional capacitation of the FBiH Judicial Police.

The President of the HJPC BiH expressed satisfaction with today’s signing of this important document, by which the HJPC BiH and the Government of FBiH agree on the implementation of the goals of the Memorandum through cooperation, coordination of activities and respect for the competencies of all involved institutions, based on the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Law on Suppression of Corruption and organized crime in FBiH.

“I would like to thank you on behalf of the HJPC of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the entire judicial community, but also the citizens for whose well-being it is most important that we have activities like this that lead to a higher quality and more efficient judiciary,” said Lagumdžija, Fena news agency reports.
