Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, spoke today with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in BiH, Steliana Nedera, about the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year, a report on the implementation of the Framework for Sustainable Development Goals in BiH will be presented at the UN, as a document for all levels of government in our country. The topic of the meeting was the projects that are being implemented in FBiH in the fields of economy, energy, digitalization and infrastructure.

Prime Minister Novalić confirmed the firm determination of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the achievement of 17 sustainable development goals. He reminded that the FBiH Government has already adopted and is implementing programs that include goals from socio-economic reforms.

“After the social ones, we have ensured that we can work on the fulfillment of further reforms and sustainable development goals. This, first of all, refers to our three goals, namely economic growth, intensive construction of infrastructure and energy transition. To continue the economic growth of the Federation, it is necessary to adopt the important fiscal laws that the Government of the FBiH already sent to the FBiH Parliament for adoption. When it comes to infrastructural development, in addition to the continuation of the construction of Corridor Vc, our priority is also the intensification of the construction of expressways. As for the energy transition, the Government previously submitted three laws in the field of renewable energy sources to the parliamentary procedure, and I expect that they will be adopted very soon,“ said Novalić.

As the next step from the Roadmap for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, Nedera prioritized the creation of a framework for financing, as well as securing additional funds that would enable faster implementation of projects.

Emphasizing the importance of implementing digital transformation, Nedera assessed the continuation of projects implementing new digital technologies and solutions as necessary.

As a successful example, the program implemented by the FBiH Ministry of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts was cited, which was completed online from public call to the allocation of funds, and in this way the FBiH Government supported more than 26 thousand craftsmen and other self-employed businesses with a total of 60 million BAM.
