Members of the Bijeljina Police Department seized 172 kilograms of Indian hemp in the area of the municipality of Lopare as part of the operation codenamed “Plantaža 23”.
Head of the Bijeljina Police Department, Stjepan Terzić, informed journalists today about the activities of the police in the past two days, which resulted in the discovery and seizure of a significant amount of narcotics.
“Acting on the ‘Plantaža 23’ action, the police officers of our administration came to operative data that in the area of the municipality of Lopare, an unknown person is engaged in the illegal cultivation and planting of Indian hemp, which is used for the production of marijuana,” Terzić told reporters.
He stated that operational work collected data about this plantation, which was located, and the competent prosecution was informed about everything.
“After that, by applying planning, operational-tactical actions, observations and ambushes on August 16, during a tour of the plantations, a person whose initials are S.A.” was found and deprived of liberty, said Terzić and added that on the same day, based on the order of the court, the police officers , searched the area used by the suspect.
According to him, on that occasion, 519 stems of Indian hemp were found, with an average height of about 96 centimeters, and a total weight of 172 kilograms, 521 pieces of plastic pots in which Indian hemp was planted, pipes, and an irrigation pump.
“The search of the house and other facilities used by the suspect was also carried out, and two ecstasy tablets and a gas pistol with its associated frame containing three bullets were found on that occasion,” Terzić said.
He added that a report on the criminal offense of unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs was filed against the arrested person, and he was handed over to the further jurisdiction of the Bijeljina District Prosecutor’s Office.
