To finance the costs of the election campaign, for the elections held in the period from 2006 to 2022, political parties in BiH spent funds in the amount of 75,885,998 BAM.

This is shown by the report on the implementation of the law under the jurisdiction of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2022, which will be presented to state parliamentarians at the next session of the House of Representatives.

The last elections (General in 2022) were the most expensive so far and cost 11.4 million BAM (realized campaign costs). The general elections in 2018 cost 9.5 million BAM, and in 2014, 8.6 million BAM.

In the General Elections of 2022, 90 political parties participated independently or in coalitions with other political parties and 17 independent candidates.

Post-election financial reports were submitted to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina by 84 political parties, which is 93.33% of the total number of political parties that participated in the elections. 6 political parties or 6.67% did not submit the financial report.

For the financing of the election campaign, political entities could spend 68,390,242 BAM within the limit prescribed by law, of which political parties 61,967,700 BAM (48,135,716 BAM independently and 13,831,983 BAM within coalitions) and independent candidates 6,422,542 BAM.

Political parties that submitted a post-election financial report to the Central Election Commission of BiH reported election campaign expenses in the amount of 11,422,813.91 BAM.

In their financial report, 26 political parties did not report election campaign expenses, four parties reported expenses of less than 1,000 BAM, 17 parties reported expenses in amounts up to 10,000 BAM, 18 parties in amounts up to 100,000 BAM, 11 parties in amounts up to 500,000 BAM, six parties in amounts up to one million BAM and two parties 1.5 million BAM.

The financial resources provided for the financing of political parties, mainly funds from the budget, were not used exclusively for the achievement of the goals established by their program and statute.

A significant number of parties were financed from prohibited sources, which is contrary to the provisions of the Law on Financing. 28 political parties did not report part of the election campaign expenses in their financial reports, and seven parties did not submit a post-election financial report, Klix.ba writes.
