A private Sarajevo businessperson has expressed interested in investing for the reconstruction of the pools, according to “Dnevni Avaz”.

Permission to start the work has already been requested from the relevant authorities of municipality Stari Grad in Sarajevo. The green light for the works has to be given by the municipal councilors.

“We gave the company “Olimpijski bazen Otoka” permission to use the area two and a half years ago. They used it for only a year, and since they had no money to maintain it, returned it to us’’, said the Municipality.

Ten days ago a request from the private businessperson arrived at the municipality, stating a wish to invest hundreds of thousands of KM.

“The request stated that we rent out the entire swimming area on Bembaša. This person would re-open the pools and decorate the surrounding area. Later on, the entire area would undergo reconstruction”, said the Municipality.

If everything goes according to plan, citizens of Sarajevo would be able to able to find relief from the upcoming hot summer days and swim in this popular place located in the Old City’’, according to the Municipality.
