A few hours after the burial of genocide victims, music was played in front of the church in Srebrenica that insults Bosniaks. As in previous years, songs were played from loudspeakers in front of the church that insult Bosniaks, but also glorify crimes and call for expulsion.
Republika Srpska Vice President Ćamil Duraković condemned the incident, sharing a video of the scene in front of the church on social media.
Duraković says that this and similar provocations are repeated every year, when the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica are honored.
“They traditionally do this on what happens on July 11th, and I wanted to somehow portray that, so that all those delegations and all those world and domestic powerful people who come to Srebrenica on July 11th and send some messages in the sense that no one should leave us or forget us, I wanted to convey a small picture of what the Bosniaks of Srebrenica are experiencing just a few hours after everyone leaves Srebrenica. The church in Srebrenica is a place where such songs are heard every year. When I was the mayor of the municipality, I reported such occurrences to the police station, which mostly gave answers that there was no legal basis to prosecute it,” said Duraković.
Let us recall that yesterday, a collective funeral was held at the Memorial Center in Potočari and the remains of seven victims of the Srebrenica genocide were buried, the worst crime committed in Europe since World War II, in which forces of the Army of Republika Srpska killed 8,372 men and boys of Bosniak ethnicity in a few days.
As part of the program marking the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, a central commemoration was held at the former battery factory in Potočari, attended by numerous domestic and foreign officials.
Respect was expressed for the victims of the genocide, and it was emphasized that denial of the crime must not be allowed.
